Situated only an a few hour drive from Nairobi, Lake Nakuru National Park is the ideal decision for those needing a safari when time is constrained. When home to Kenya's popular flamingo rushes, the park is currently most acclaimed for its huge groups of wild ox, the nearness of four of the Big Five, and its bigger than normal populaces of rhinoceros. A picturesque park flanking Lake Nakuru, it's a fun day trip from the city.
You will be pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi between 06:30 and 07:00, and then escape the city on a 2.5-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Stop at the Lake Nakuru observation point on the way for remarkable views of the Great Rift Valley landscape. On arrival at Lake Nakuru National Park, embark on a 4-hour game drive. Get the chances to see some of Kenya's remarkable bird life on the beautiful lakes of the Great Rift Valley, and keep your eyes open for other wildlife grazing along the shore, including some of Africa’s famous game animals? Lake Nakuru earned its reputation as the home of one of the greatest bird spectacles on earth when, often more than a million, pink flamingos flock to feed in the shallow warm waters.
Break for lunch at one of the lodges in the park before embarking on another game drive. Depending on how much wildlife you encounter, leave the park between 15:00 and 16:00 to arrive back in Nairobi for hotel drop off between 18:00 and 19:00.
