A safari is all about sightings and visual pleasures. And wildlife safari is at its best when the land is parched forcing the animals to come out and march to the drums of survival following their instincts into the greener pastures. By now you must have guessed what we are saying.  Tanzania’s Northern Circuit is at its best during the dry months spanning from July to November. The sun is out, the skies are clear, and there’s very little precipitation, which means negligible chances of rainfall; and the best part? Well, not the best part because nothing beats the bevy of wildlife that abounds in the northern circuit parks- there’s not much mosquito menace to contend with.

The 6-day northern safari kicks off with a survey of the alkaline water of the Lake Manyara National Park, a haven for ornithologists, nestling over 350 species of birds. It is also the home of tree climbing lions, large herds of elephants and myriad animal species. After that its wildebeest time, in Serengeti National Park. June to September is the months when the impressive natural phenomenon of a million wildebeest migration unfolds in the Serengeti. Next up is the biosphere reserve of Ngorongoro Conservation Area which also doubles up as Masaai territory. But the major attraction is the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO heritage site and home to an astounding density of animals. Both Serengeti and The Ngorongoro crater are famed for the Big 5.  Be cued into your guide for the best chance for seeing them. After that, it’s off to the acacia and baobab landscape of Tarangire National Park with huge tuskers and four of the big 5 creating mayhem around the drying water sources.
