If heights don’t scare you, then launch yourself into an aerial survey of the iconic Serengeti National Park in the hot air balloon. On air or on land Serengeti with its undulating savannah and breathtaking wildlife never ceases to amaze. Just one suggestion, you ride with us and easy to lose your way. The savannahs give way to the jungle like landscape of Lake Manyara National Park and its tree climbing lions and large herds of elephants which don’t do enough the pale the flamingo effects of Lake Manyara.  Next up is the world’s largest intact caldera with a floor span of 260sq.km.-Ngorongoro Crater. Day 1 – Arrive to JRO airport

Greetings by Tanganyika Ancient Route Staff personnel then shuttle to Kili Villas. You will enjoy an overnight at Kili Golf Villa. You will be greeted by the wonderful staff of the villa’s. A light snack or dinner will be provided for your welcome to Tanzania.

Day 2 –

Wake up to your first morning in beautiful Tanzania Africa. You will see the African sunrise and the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro or Mt. Meru. Your breakfast will be waiting for you in the private villa room. We will depart for Arusha National Park mid-morning so you have time to stretch and enjoy your initial surroundings. It is a short drive to this beautiful national park. The Tanzanian’s call this a special gem as you will enjoy the sights, sounds and get up close and personal with all the animals. You will have option to walk for part of the safari, canoe on Flamingo Lake or just stay comfortable in your safari vehicle. We will get you back to the Villas in time for a relaxing glass of wine, dinner and campfire while taking in the beauty of the African night sky. Sleep well – tomorrow we begin the journey to Tarangire National Park.

Day 3 –

Early morning breakfast is on tap today. We will pack up the vehicles and set off for Arusha City where you will be able to use local ATM machine to get money, Exchange money if you want tshilling and any last minute items you need may be picked up at the local grocery story (much like Pick N Save) in the USA. Our first stop “The Shanga” meaning Bead. This is a wonderful community of physically/mentally challenged adults and children who have learned and practice their skill of art work. You will be amazed at what is made at this community. There is a nice tour to give you the history of how this place came to be and how they are growing leaps and bounds. We will relax in their peaceful sanctuary for lunch. A tour of the coffee plantation will take place directly after lunch. We will depart for Tarangire National Park midafternoon so your arrival will be just in time for the vivid sunset. Dinner and relaxation will take place at Swala Sanctuary Retreat Camp.

Day 4-

Get your cameras ready for a day to delight in learning. You might (optional) enjoy an early morning balloon safari which will take you above the animals for viewing. It is quiet and peaceful and photography will definitely be in order. You will have time to each lunch and refresh before we take off for the afternoon safari in the “bush” We will be deep in the bush for sights you have never seen before. We will set up a wine/cheese time while the sun sets and the animals lumber around us. Don’t worry – you will never be in danger. Dinner and campfires will be waiting for you as we return to Swala Sanctuary Retreat Camp for the night.

Day 5 –

Waking up to the beautiful African sunrise, breakfast, coffee and tea will await you. Today will be another exciting day as we depart for a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park. This park will offer you the tree climbing lion, the famous hippo pool and exotic birds galore. It is a nice adventure and you will have much to write home about. We will leave the park before sunset and arrive to Ngorongoro Ang’ata camp for dinner, drinks and relaxation.

Day 6 –

The sunrise and sounds of birds and monkeys will wake you this morning. A wonderfully prepared breakfast will be waiting for you. As you stretch and prepare for the day – be sure to pack your day pack with your camera, journal, safari hat and sunscreen. We are going to take you to see the 7th natural wonder of the world – The Ngorongoro Crater. We will descend 2500m to the floor of this crater where there are over 100 different animals and birds that have made this their natural habitat. You will look up and see the wall of this former volcano standing so high with beautiful trees and foliage. It is breathtaking. Lunch will be eaten in the caldera together as we sit under the trees to give us shade. We will ascend late in the afternoon and return to Ang’ata camp for the evening.

Day 7 – Rise and Shine!

We will get an early start today as we make our way to the famous Serengeti. Along this drive, we will stop and pass to the Masai boma team to learn about their lifestyle and culture. You will want to have your cameras ready for this opportunity of a lifetime. We will arrive at Serengeti Ang’ata Camp for a nice warm shower and evening activities.

Day 8 –

Listening to the birds of the Serengeti will greet you as your eyes open to begin the day. You will enjoy a wonderful cup of tea or coffee and a warm breakfast. Today is the day you will get to see the real “Simba” and “Mufasa” from the Lion King – this is a great place to sing the songs you know from the famous musical. As we drive through the vast wilderness of the Serengeti – you will learn about the animals, landscape and more! The return to camp will be at sunset so you can enjoy and relax drinks, dinner and dessert! Enjoy the sounds of the hyena’s and jackals as you rest and dream about the day.

Day 9 –

Good Morning! Another wonderful day to learn more about the Serengeti. This will be a full day of game driving with a few fun stops along the way. You will have sights and sounds like no other during this trip. We will return to Ang’ata Camp for the evening activities.

Day 10 –

You will board an in-country flight which will take you from Serengeti to Saadani National park which is the unique park of our country. Saadani is known for its “bush to beach” land. This is an exclusive park where you will feel like royalty! We can’t wait for you to experience this beautiful park. There will be time today to swim in the beautiful infinity pool and take a walk on the beach. Relax relax relax today!

DAY 11 –

Fresh orange juice, tea, and breakfast will be prepared and ready when you wake up. The first item on the agenda today will be to enjoy the river safari at Wami River. This is a unique safari as you sit in a beautiful boat and watch the fish swim, crocodiles float along the banks of the river – meet the random hippo and see the giraffe, elephants, and cheetahs running throughout the shoreline. This is the only park in Tanzania where you can experience the “river safari” The rest of the day will give you rest and relaxing. This will be your last night in Tanzania so enjoy the sunset, the Indian Ocean and the sounds of the animals.

DAY 12 –

Waking up to the beautiful sunrise on the Indian Ocean will be a lifetime memory. After your relaxing breakfast, you might choose to take once last game drive, swim or walk on on the beach. Your early afternoon flight will get you to Dar es Salaam in plenty of time where you will connect to your international flight back to USA.
